Weaving an Exploration of Masson Mills in the Derwent Valley
On Saturday 20th June 2026 starting at 11.00, and lasting for just over an hour, I will be giving a lecture that reveals the findings from my three year inquiry into Masson Mills. This will answer the questions that I first raised in 2022 such as:
• Why cotton? • Why here? • How was this place found? • Who worked here? • Where did they live? • What choices did they have? • What did they actually do here? • How much of this is original? • When did yarn production end? • What now for this site?
Then go on to explain how much more was discovered about Masson Mills and how weaving contributed to this new knowledge.
