Cloth woven on heritage

Our woven cloth is produced on 1864 Lancashire, 1894 Yorkshire and 1978 Saurer looms.

It is available on the roll in 25cm increments and also in pre-cut fat quarters.

Widths vary and it is mixed fibres. Due to the special nature of weaving on historic machinery there are imperfections that add to its character.

String made on original Masson Mills machinery

Our string is produced on doubling machines that were in use at Masson Mills up to its closure as a commercial mill in 1991.

100% Cotton.

Makers @ Masson

Handmade items by local makers available in our Visitor Centre

These hand-crafted ‘Harvest Mice’ are by Middleton-By-Wirksworth based Lucy. Lucy has also produced mice in our Masson cloth for our own ‘Mill Mice’ range.

Debbie makes these ornamental trees using Masson cloth and wooden spools from our Visitor Centre shop. Embellished with hand stitching, buttons & ribbon.

Wirksworth based artist, Iain, has recreated a wonderful range of local scenes and buildings in watercolour. Greeting cards and selected prints are available to purchase including two stunning images of Masson Mills.

Jackie creates pin cushions using vintage china teacups. She has also sewn out of our Masson cloth including lavender bag sets. Jackie will be running some hand sewing workshops here in the Visitor Centre.

Jill is a member of our Visitor Centre team and creates all of the wonderful crochet pieces, including our Masson Mill Mice, using our Masson string.
